Press Release
iCarpool – Helping commuters
find co-workers or neighbors for carpool
Redmond, WA – Oct 5 2006 – Interact
Soft Inc announced the launch of www.iCarpool.com today. The website is state-of-the-art
and provides high precision carpool matches to maximize savings through carpool.
It provides unique features like allowing a user to affiliate with communities and
scope carpool partner search within the user’s communities. This enables exciting
opportunities like finding co-workers or neighbors from the user’s residential community
to carpool for daily commute, an event like a baseball game or music concert and
even a long distance trip. It can also translate to real savings for large employers
with thousands of employees with new scenarios like, making it possible for co-workers
traveling to a different location – say a conference – to find each other and connect.
The current version caters to all regions of USA and Canada.
As surprising as it seems, a large
number of carpool matching websites on the internet offer carpool as mere lists
with no computerized trip matching capabilities. Some may use primitive listing
by zip code or city, so finding great matches and enabling users to maximize savings
through carpool is not something they can do. Additionally, most of the websites
make personal and contact information readily available to any user searching for
carpool matches. Users have little or no control over who gets to review their personal
and contact information.
Solutions which enable new scenarios
will pave the way to grow the carpool community and help new users commit to carpool.
The solutions will require sustained innovation in technologies like private interactions,
mobile phones, live traffic incidents and so on. Interact Soft Inc is looking forward
to provide such sustained innovation working closely with transportation authorities
and employers who adopt trip reduction programs.
Lakshmi adds, “Everyone understands
the benefits of carpooling like saving gas, saving time by using carpool lanes,
not to mention saving the environment. However, the carpool solutions out there
do not make it easy for users to commit to carpooling. For example, you cannot easily
find carpool partners who may live in your residential community or work for the
same company. Similarly, many solutions just present a large listing of people and
their contact numbers without regard for much needed privacy. With, iCarpool we
will do much more than solving these issues. In the end, I hope newer and better
solutions help people to commit to carpooling and thus grow the carpool community.”
