Guaranteed Ride Home
The purpose of the Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program is to ensure that the commuter
who carpools, vanpools or rides the express route to work doesn’t get stuck at work
when the unexpected happens. The program will reimburse the expenses incurred to
get home in the event of the "unexpected" (see GRH Rules).
GRH Eligibility
GRH is available to commuters who use "alternative transportation" (carpool, vanpool,
I-4 express route) on their commute at least three times per week and are registered
participants of the Votran Commuter Program.
To register with the program, "Sign Up" now.
GRH Rules
- A qualifying emergency occurs when:
- you are sick at work;
- a member of your family has an emergency while you
are at work;
- you are required to work late unexpectedly; or
- your carpool driver has an emergency and cannot give
you a ride home or to your car.
- Eligible commuters are allowed four emergency vouchers
per calendar year.
- Each voucher will reimburse up to $100 of the cost
of the trip; any cost beyond $100 will be the responsibility of the commuter.
How to use GRH
To be able to access a GRH voucher, you must:
- Log your alternative transportation commuter trips
online in the ride-matching system accessed from the Votran site. If you establish
a carpool through the ride-matching system, then your recurring commuter will be
automatically logged in the system.
- At the time of the qualifying emergency, log into the
ride-matching system and:
- Click the "My Communities" tab.
- Under the "My Networks" heading on this page, click
the "Benefits Button".
- Click the "Guaranteed Ride Home" link.
- Fill in the required fields on the screen and click
"Submit Claim".
- Click the "Print GRH voucher" link on this screen and
print the voucher form.
- Call one of the cooperating taxi companies and/or car
rental agencies listed and make your reservation. NOTE: Expenses will have to be
paid at the time services are provided. Please be sure to keep ALL receipts for
services rendered.
